What are CBD seeds?
CBD and THC are both cannabinoids produced mainly in the flowers of female cannabis plants. The seed itself doesn't contain meaningful amounts of either one. What makes a seed a "CBD seed" is its genetics, which determine how much CBD and THC the grown plant will produce. Breeders develop CBD strains by selecting and crossing plants with high, consistent CBD levels over several generations.
Understanding CBD to THC ratios
CBD strains are usually described by their ratio of CBD to THC. CBD-dominant strains, such as 20:1 or 10:1, produce much more CBD than THC. Balanced strains, around 1:1, produce similar amounts of both. Each product page lists the expected ratio for that strain, based on our own lab results.
Ratios can vary somewhat from plant to plant, even within the same strain. Stable genetics keep that variation small, which is why we backcross our prize CBD male to stabilize the ratios. We test each generation before releasing a strain.
CBD seeds in autoflower and photoperiod versions
Our CBD strains come in [autoflower and feminized photoperiod] versions. Do CBD seeds contain CBD?
No. The seeds themselves contain almost no CBD. CBD is produced in the flowers of the grown plant, and the seed's genetics determine how much.
Do CBD strains contain THC?
Most do contain some THC. CBD-dominant strains usually have low THC, while balanced 1:1 strains contain similar levels of both. Check the ratio on each product page.
Are CBD seeds the same as hemp seeds?
Not quite. Hemp seeds sold as food are not bred for flower production. CBD cannabis seeds are bred specifically to grow plants with high CBD flowers.
Are CBD cannabis seeds legal?
